The Tri is produced by the Oregon Community Swim Club, a non-profit USA swim organization that embraces novice recreational swimmers all the way up to driven national competitors. In addition to leadership from the Swim Club, race day activities could not happen without the countless hours of 200+ volunteers that donate their time and knowledge to the Oregon Kids Triathlon.

The Oregon Kids Triathlon was launched in 2006 as a local event to get kids moving and to help them find a love for multiple sports.  Now in its 18thyear, OKT has grown to over 500 athletes that come from all over southern Wisconsin and even northern Illinois.

A triathlon is a race that combines three sports: swimming, cycling, and running. The kids start the race swimming in the Oregon Community Pool.  From the swim, they run to the transition area to put on their helmets, shoes, and anything else they need. Then they mount their bikes and head out to the bike course on the roads inside the village of Oregon. When the kids are done with the bike portion of the race, they head back to transition to put their bike away, and head out to run a route specific to their age group. They then finish the race by crossing through the finishing chute!

The Oregon Kids Triathlon is the perfect opportunity for kids looking to have their first experience in a triathlon or for those looking to take their competitive abilities to the next level. While awards are given to the top five fastest in each age group, this event’s main goal is to celebrate health and fitness, encourage self-confidence, and most of all have fun while being active.
